Sparky
"Wanted to let you both know that Sparky had to be put down today. He started having tremors around 3pm today. I gave him fluids because he was dehydrated and he had no color in his gums so he was going into shock. So I got him as warm as I could and gave him pedialyte because the only thing I could think of was that he was going into hypoglycemic shock or worst case were that these tremors I was seeing were actually seizures and it was really distemper. If he hadn't come from Terre Haute I would have thought it was distemper. But the fact that I almost never get anyone seriously ill from you on top of the fact that it didn't really seem like your typical seizure, I was leaning more towards hypoglycemia. We raced him to our vet and they did all kinds of blood work and found that he was in acute kidney failure. They asked how long he was at Terre Haute because he could have been poisoned with Anti-freeze and that would cause the kidney failure but I told them it looked like you all had him since May 5th. He said Anti freeze kills the dog within 7 days. So then he said this had to be a congenital defect. He was either born with one kidney that was too small or only one kidney period. He mentioned that if he was dropped off at Terre Haute the owners probably knew his condition. We will never know about that of course. The poor boy goes through the stress of 2 different environments and now has to be put down. Life certainly isn't fair. Wanted to let you know. He just had gone up for adoption today too.'
