Guide to Giving at Year-End

With the end of the year rapidly approaching, it’s a great time to review important financial matters and consider a gift to help the animals in care of the Terre Haute Humane Shelter (THHS). We recommend you connect with your financial advisor to make sure you take full advantage of tax benefits.

You can make an immediate impact by supporting our annual fund which provides desperately needed resources for operating the shelter, or consider a gift to our capital campaign to help us build a much needed new facility.

Giving Options

Please make certain to identify your gift’s purpose. (Examples: Annual Operating Costs, New Building, Other (provide detail))

If you would like more information about the new building plans, please contact Becky Miller at 812-298-2361 or email rmiller@ivytech.edu.

Why plan now?
Your charitable income tax deductions are one of the few tax planning opportunities completely within your control. The amount, timing and form of your gift are up to you.

By carefully planning your charitable gifts and completing them by December 31, you may enjoy the satisfaction of giving while increasing your tax refund or reducing taxes you would otherwise owe next April.

What can you give?
Cash. Charitable gifts are most often made in the form of cash and checks. If you itemize your tax deductions, gifts of cash can eliminate or reduce tax on up to one-half of your adjusted gross income (AGI)*.  Be sure to maintain receipts, acknowledgements or back records related to your gifts.
